Overview
Congenital cholesteatoma can occur in any temporal bone. A specific position concerns a rare cholesteatoma of eardrum membrane. The authors describe the case of a 54-year patient with cholesteatoma of eardrum membrane. The disease became manifest with a single symptom, hearing disorder with a discrete otoscopic finding. The authors discuss the etiology and possible pathologic mechanism of the origin of the disease as well as various manifestations of the changes of eardrum membrane associated with this diagnosis.
Key words:
cholesteatoma, eardrum membrane.
