Overview

A case report of a 56-year-old man with a chondrosarcoma of larynx is presented. Chondrosarcoma of larynx is a rare malignant tumour that has its origin most commonly in cricoid cartilage. Main symptoms are hoarseness and progressive inspiratory dyspnoea. However, it is mostly asymptomatic at the beginning of its growth. Detailed medical history, physical examination including endoscopy and computed tomography scans are the main parts of the diagnostic process of this tumour. Biopsy is essential for final diagnosis but it is not simple to evaluate differentiation of chondrosarcoma properly. Endoscopic surgery with maximized effort to preserve laryngeal function should be preferred as treatment.
